Producers will study crop production, management, and economics. Topics include variety selection, planning, pest control, harvesting, storage, safety, and marketing. Crop rotations and tillage methods are examined in relation to nutrient management plans. The farm cropping program is integrated into the overall farm business management plan. Risk management is addressed through crop insurance and marketing strategies. Emphasis is placed on analyzing farm business data and planning effective cropping practices. Competencies are assessed using actual farm financial records or instructor-developed simulations.
