Designed for currently licensed Registered Nurses, this course prepares learners to apply nursing knowledge, critical thinking, decision-making, and patient care skills in the prehospital emergency setting. Through classroom instruction, skills practice, and ambulance clinical experiences, students gain competencies in patient assessment, airway management, immobilization and splinting, medical and trauma care, pediatric, geriatric, and obstetrical emergencies, ambulance operations, and mass-casualty incidents. Successful completion qualifies students to take the National Registry EMT certification exam and apply for Wisconsin EMT licensure.
